When Auckland Neurosurgery Group launched in 2025, the focus was on providing exceptional patient care, not untangling accounting systems.
As a newly established private neurosurgery practice with three surgeons, the team quickly discovered that setting up the financial side of the business was more complex than expected.
“We were all new to setting up a private practice,” explains Practice Manager Grace. “Our accounts were in a big mess. We had separate Xero accounts for the practice and each surgeon, nothing seemed to match up, and we knew we needed a clearer, more streamlined approach. The financial reporting was also quite technical, making it difficult for our busy healthcare team to quickly understand what was happening.”
Looking for a fresh start, Grace began searching for an accountant with experience working with medical professionals.

Grace also likes The Accounting Hub’s willingness to tailor their reporting to suit the way the practice operates.
“Our surgeons are incredibly busy. We asked if the reports could be simplified so they could understand how the practice was performing at a glance, and they’re developing a dashboard to make that happen. They’re always looking for ways to make things easier for us.”
For Grace, one of the biggest differences has been finding accountants who communicate in a way that makes sense.
